Abstract

Compliance in consuming iron tablets during pregnancy is very important because pregnant women will experience an increase in blood volume. The more mothers comply in consuming iron tablets, the smaller the risk of anemia or impaired fetal growth and maternal health. Based on these problems, efforts must be made to overcome pregnant women who are not compliant in consuming iron tablets by health workers must involve their families, especially husbands, in supervising the taking of medication according to the schedule and dosage that has been set. Husband's support is very important, the higher the husband's support obtained, the higher the adjustment of pregnant women to be motivated to diligently take iron tablets in an effort to prevent anemia in pregnant women. The activity was carried out targeting pregnant women in the Suliliran Health Center work area, Laburan Baru Village. From the results of the data assessment and the problems raised, a midwifery project was carried out to educate the role of families in monitoring the compliance of pregnant women in taking iron tablets in an effort to prevent anemia. The results of this community service activity were attended by pregnant women, families, cadres, and village midwives, and received positive appreciation from government officials who were present during the implementation of the activity. Participants were given pretests and posttests to assess increased knowledge. The participants assessed were 22 people consisting of pregnant women, families and cadres. Participants were then assisted in filling out the iron tablet card. Statistical results showed a significant increase in knowledge after the activity was completed where the average value of participants increased from 5.9 to 8.5 and the N-Gain score was 65.4% indicating that the education provided was quite effective. Ultimately, in accordance with the objectives of this activity, education about the role of families in monitoring compliance with taking iron tablet in efforts to prevent anemia in pregnant women can increase target knowledge.
