Abstract
Background: The physical factor that can increase pain is the use of induction, which is allegedly twice the normal labor contraction. WHO data from 2007 to 2012, the incidence of induction of labor has more than doubled from 9.5% to 22.5%. The initial survey that was carried out in the PONEK Room of RSUD dr. H. Moch. Ansari Saleh Banjarmasin obtained from 9 mothers with induction all experienced severe pain. Labor pain can have various effects on the mother or the fetus, so it is necessary to control pain and as a form of mother's care for the mother in labor. Non-pharmacological methods that can be used as pain management are warm compresses.
Objective: To analyze the difference in intensity of pain in the first stage of the active phase with induction of labor before and after giving warm compresses.
Methods: This study used a Pre - Experimental design with a One Group Pretest Posttest design. This sample was taken using an accidental sampling technique, with a minimum sample size of 30 women giving birth by induction. The data for this study were collected using an observation sheet for the intensity of labor pain as measured by a combination of the Wong Baker Face Scale and the Numerical Rating Scale (NRS), then the data were analyzed using the Wilcoxon test.
Results: The majority of labor pain intensity before being given warm compresses was with severe pain 93.3% and after being given warm compresses the majority were moderate pain (83.3%), bivariate analysis based on the Wilcoxon test obtained a p value of 0.000 (< 0, 05) Ho is rejected.
Conclusion: There is an effect of warm compresses on the intensity of labor pain during the first stage of the active phase with induction of labor.
