Abstract

Background: The incidence of anxiety in pregnant women in Indonesia reaches 373,000,000, anxiety during pregnancy up to the third trimester affects the birth process, child development, premature birth, low birth weight (LBW), prolonged labor, mental and motor disorders in children, even up to the death of the mother. In providing midwifery care, one of the competencies that midwives must have is the ability to communicate in midwifery services. Communication skills will underlie efforts to solve problems for pregnant women, making it easier to provide assistance to pregnant women, both medical services and psychological services provided with a therapeutic communication approach.


Objective: To find out midwife communication in reducing the level of anxiety of pregnant women facing childbirth at the Independent Midwife Practice N Banjarmasin.


Method: This type of research uses quantitative descriptive. The population in this study was 30 pregnant women in the third trimester using an accidental sampling technique using a questionnaire research instrument which was analyzed using univariate.


Results: Analysis based on the majority aged 20-35 years, 27 people (90%), the majority of primiparous parity, 16 people (53.3%), the majority of pregnancy complications, no 22 people (73.3%), the majority of midwife therapeutic communication in the good category, 30 people (100% ), the majority of anxiety before ANC (Antenatal Care) was moderate anxiety 17 people (56.7%), mild anxiety 13 people (43.3%), the majority of anxiety after ANC became mild anxiety 13 people (43.3%), moderate anxiety 10 people (33.3%) , there was no anxiety for 7 people (23.3%).


Conclusion: The conclusion from the research before and after ANC was that anxiety levels decreased.
