T The Effect Of Infusion Of Jatropha Leaves (Jatropha Curcas L.) In Pregnant Mice (Mus Musculus)

Abstract
Background: An alternative therapy used by the Banjar people in South Kalimantan is the use of herbal ingredients to expedite the delivery process for mothers who are giving birth. The herbal ingredients used are the leaves of the Jatropha curcas (Jatropha curcas L.) which contain active compounds such as saponins, phenols, flavonoids, and alkaloids.
Methods: The research method was a true experiment with a posttest-only control research design applied to the research sample, namely 30 mice divided into several observation groups consisting of three treatment groups which were given Jatropha curcas L. infusion with a concentration of 5%, 10 %, 20% and one control group that was not given treatment. The data analysis used was univariate and bivariate analysis.
Results: The results of the study after 24 hours in the 5% administration group became the optimal concentration given to pregnant mice. In the 10% group, the mice gave birth with the fetus still wrapped in the amniotic membranes. In the administration group 20% of the mice died, while in the control group the mice gave birth on day 21. The Kruskal-Wallis test results obtained a p value of 0.029 (<0.05) indicating that concentration had an effect on the pregnancy of mice.
Conclusion: Jatropha leaf infusion is able to expedite the delivery process in mice experimental animals by giving a concentration of 5%.
