A Application Of Progressive Muscle Relaxation To Overcome Anxiety In Pregnant Women : Literature Review Penerapan Relaksasi Otot Progresif Untuk Mengatasi Kecemasan Pada Ibu Hamil : Literature Review

Abstract
Background: The incidence of anxiety in pregnant women in Indonesia reaches 373,000,000 A total of 107,000,000 or 28.7% of them anxiety occurs in pregnant women before the delivery process. Prolonged anxiety in pregnant women may have a negative impact on the mother and fetus. One of the non-pharmacological therapies for dealing with anxiety is progressive muscle relaxation, which is a technique that involves stretching the muscles and then relaxing them.
Objective: This study aims to determine the application of progressive muscle relaxation to overcome anxiety in pregnant women.
Methods: This study uses The JBI Critical Appraisal Tools sourced from Google Scholar and Pudmed. The research design uses the Literature Review. The number of articles used in this study is 10 articles.
Results: The results of a literature show that progressive muscle relaxation is effective in reducing anxiety levels in pregnant women with an average decrease of 1 level lower after the application of progressive muscle relaxation. However, if the application of progressive muscle relaxation combined with other alternatives can result in a greater reduction in anxiety levels than those not combined, one of them is a combination of progressive muscle relaxation with fruit aromatherapy. How to apply progressive muscle relaxation is demonstrated live or using video. The time of application of progressive muscle relaxation from 10 articles on average was carried out in third trimester pregnant women with a duration of 10-25 minutes and the frequency of application was 1 time for 3 days or 1 time a week for 6 weeks.
Conclusion: Progressive muscle relaxation can be applied to pregnant women to overcome anxiety.
