Abstract

The Maternal and Child Health Program (KIA) is one of the top priorities for health development in Indonesia. This program is responsible for health services for pregnant women, birth mothers and neonatal babies. One of the goals of this program is to reduce the maternal mortality rate (MMR) and infant mortality rate (IMR). In addition, the mother's knowledge in baby care is very supportive of the health of the baby being born. Health programs that are related to the health status of mothers and children can be obtained through health services such as Posyandu, Puskesmas, village midwives, health counseling, and so on. It is necessary to provide health education from an early age to pregnant women to increase knowledge. One way of providing health education is by providing education. Education can be provided through various media, one of which is flipchart media. This activity was carried out in the Berangas Health Center work area, which was held from April to June 2022. The purpose of this community service activity was to provide education to mothers as an effort to increase knowledge by using flipchart media. The health information contained in this flipchart contains danger signs of pregnancy in trimesters I, II & III, needs of pregnancy in trimesters I, II & III, signs of labor, positions for labor and danger signs of childbirth, postpartum danger signs, breastfeeding techniques. , natural and modern contraception, and about danger signs in newborns can be well understood by mothers so that mothers' knowledge and understanding of pregnancy, childbirth, postpartum and newborns is increasing. Knowing these danger signs can detect as early as possible the presence of complications during pregnancy, childbirth, postpartum and BBL so that it is expected to reduce MMR and IMR.
