Abstract

Breast milk is the first food given to newborn babies from the age of 0 to 6 months, or often referred to as exclusive breastfeeding which has many enormous benefits (WHO, 2021). According to the 2017 Indonesian Demographic and Health Survey (IDHS) report, exclusive breastfeeding coverage in Indonesia showed an increase from 2019 covering 66.69%, in 2020 covering 69.62 and in 2021 covering 71.58%, while in South Kalimantan Province the coverage of exclusive breastfeeding in the last 3 years was 65.97% (2019), 63.55% (2020) and 60.27% (2021). The Basic Health Research 2021, states that only 52.5% or half of the 2.7 million babies who received exclusive breastfeeding for 6 months in Indonesia. This exclusive breastfeeding rate decreased by 12% from the achievement in 2019, meaning that more babies do not consume breast milk for the first 6 months after their birth. The rate of early breastfeeding initiation (IMD) also dropped from 58.2% in 2019 to 48.6% in 2021, according to WHO. The purpose of the activity is to provide education and training on oxytocin and oxytetani massage in increasing exclusive breastfeeding in Belangian village, the method used is lecture and question and answer and direct practice.
