E Empowerment of Health Cadres in Sungai Batang Ilir Village through Anemia Prevention Education
Abstract
Anemia is a condition in which the number of red blood cells or the concentration of hemoglobin in them is lower than the physiological needs of the body. The condition of anemia is one of the great indicators of world health. Anemia is still a major public health problem from all walks of life. Anemia itself is closely related to nutritional needs, so that if someone has anemia it will have the potential to experience malnutrition, stunting, also decreased productivity. The purpose of this Community Service is to increase the knowledge of health cadres about Anemia. The method used is the group discussion method as well as pre-test and post-test. The information media used is leaflets. The village health cadres involved were 15 people. Media leaflets contain information about the definition of anemia, signs of anemia symptoms, causes of anemia, the impact of anemia, how to prevent anemia, and how to take iron supplements correctly. The result of this activity was an increase in knowledge from village health cadres about anemia. This can be seen from the results of the pre-test and post-test which increased knowledge by 15 cadres (100%). The increasing knowledge of cadres is the better it is in making it easier for cadres to educate the local community. The conclusion of this activity is the increasing knowledge of Sungai Batang Ilir village health cadres about anemia
