Abstract

Stunting is a serious problem that can hinder children's physical and mental development. The government has identified the role of families, especially parents, in preventing stunting. At Puskesmas Bati-Bati, stunting prevention efforts are carried out through the Ayah Mama Prevent Stunting Movement. However, the lack of parental knowledge is an obstacle in this effort. The proposed solution is to conduct counselling to parents of toddlers with a focus on awareness of the dangers of stunting. Counselling is carried out by collaborating with families and local village officials. The target of the activity is to increase parents' knowledge related to stunting prevention. The activity was carried out on 17 January 2024, at Poskesdes Banua Raya, with the participants being mothers and fathers of toddlers and accompanied by puskesmas midwives and cadres. The results of the activity showed the enthusiasm of the participants in increasing their understanding of stunting through counselling sessions, questions and answers, and closing sessions. The outputs achieved were increased parental knowledge related to stunting prevention, publication through national seminars or journals, and distribution of leaflets as extension media. The next plan is to develop education by midwives, cadres, and communities related to stunting. The conclusion of this activity is that the event went according to plan with active participation from the participants. The suggestion for Puskesmas Bati-Bati is to make regular meetings for education on toddler growth and stunting, while for the community is to pay more attention to family health to prevent stunting.
