Abstract

Maternal mortality rate (MMR) in Indonesia is still a serious challenge despite its decline. Maternal deaths are caused by various obstetric complications that can often be prevented through proper antenatal care. Efforts to prevent maternal deaths are carried out with various strategies, including the implementation of the concept of safe motherhood which includes antenatal care (ANC). However, the low coverage of ANC visits is one of the factors contributing to the high MMR in Indonesia. This activity aims to increase awareness and coverage of pregnancy visits, especially antenatal care (ANC) visits, at the Beruntung Raya Banjarmasin Health Center. Specific measures include socialization on the importance of ANC, implementation of the "Poster PUJAMILAN" innovation as a guide for minimum visits during pregnancy, and evaluation of the impact of this initiative on the knowledge and behavior of pregnant women and families. The program is implemented through direct counseling to pregnant women and families, with a focus on understanding ANC and pregnancy visit schedules. The innovative "Poster PUJAMILAN" was installed in strategic locations in the Puskesmas and socialized to the community. Evaluation was conducted through monitoring the knowledge and participation of pregnant women and families in ANC visits. There was a significant increase in the knowledge and awareness of pregnant women and families about the importance of ANC visits. The achievement of K1 and K4 visits increased from 2022 to 2023, although it still did not reach the desired target. Outreach and the implementation of the PUJAMILAN Poster were successful in increasing pregnant women's motivation and participation in antenatal visits.Initiative measures such as direct outreach and the implementation of the PUJAMILAN Poster were successful in increasing knowledge, motivation, and coverage of antenatal visits at the Beruntung Raya Health Center. Nonetheless, broader and sustained efforts are needed to continue to improve maternal health and significantly reduce the risk of maternal mortality. By continuing to encourage community participation and providing better education, we hope to achieve the Minimum Service Standard (MSS) targets and improve the welfare of pregnant women and babies in Indonesia.
