A Anemia Monitoring Program With “Gemoi Cantik” In The Working Area Of Ketapang I Community Health Center, Mentawa Baru Ketapang District, East Kotawaringin Regency

Abstract

The "Gemoi Cantik" Anemia Monitoring Program (Movement to Monitor Solutions to Prevent Anemia and Reduce Maternal and Infant Mortality) was implemented in the working area of Puskesmas Ketapang I, Mentawa Baru Ketapang Subdistrict, Kotawaringin Timur Regency, to address the high prevalence of anemia among pregnant women. Anemia during pregnancy can increase the risk of complications such as preterm birth, maternal and infant mortality, and infections. This program aims to raise awareness and understanding among pregnant women about the importance of anemia prevention through the routine consumption of iron (Fe) tablets. The methods used in this program include providing education and health promotion to pregnant women about anemia, distributing iron tablets, installing "Gemoi Cantik" stickers as a tool to monitor compliance with iron tablet consumption, and collaborating with local health volunteers and community leaders. Regular evaluations are conducted to monitor changes in hemoglobin (Hb) levels among pregnant women. The results of the program showed an increase in knowledge and awareness among pregnant women regarding the importance of anemia prevention and compliance with iron tablet consumption. Additionally, there was a reduction in the incidence of anemia in the area. Therefore, this program is expected to contribute to reducing the maternal mortality rate (MMR) and infant mortality rate (IMR) in the Puskesmas Ketapang I working area. This program can also serve as an innovative model for improving maternal and child health in other regions.
