Abstract

Stunting is a chronic growth disorder in children caused by prolonged malnutrition, repeated infections, and inadequate psychosocial stimulation. This condition significantly impacts cognitive development, health, and overall quality of life, potentially leading to increased morbidity and reduced economic productivity in adulthood. This study aims to address and prevent stunting in Mantuil Village through the 1000 Days of Life Campaign (HPK), focusing on the critical window of opportunity from conception to a child’s second birthday. The main issue identified is the high prevalence of stunting, primarily due to a lack of knowledge about adequate nutrition and proper caregiving practices among parents. The methods employed in this campaign included educating pregnant women and parents of children aged 0-24 months through targeted counseling sessions, distributing informative leaflets, and leveraging social media platforms to disseminate key messages. Furthermore, a community talk show was organized, involving various stakeholders, to enhance public awareness and foster community engagement. The results demonstrated a notable increase in participants' knowledge and understanding of the importance of nutrition during the first 1000 days of life in preventing stunting. By implementing this program, we aim to significantly reduce the incidence of stunting in the South Banjarmasin area. In conclusion, education-based interventions and active community involvement are crucial for effectively addressing and mitigating the stunting problem within the community.
