Abstract

Midwives have an important role in caring for perineal wounds after childbirth. Improper care of the perineum can cause the condition of the perineum affected by lochia to become moist and really support the growth of bacteria which can cause infection. Patient education is very important regarding the management of perineal wound care on the level of wound healing and compliance with wound care. The method used is to provide reinforcement regarding education to third trimester pregnant women through health education methods in efforts to manage perineal wound care. The service activity was carried out by a midwifery lecturer at Sari Mulia University targeting pregnant women in the third trimester. The results of this service achieved the output target of achieving 100% success. Community service activities also have excellent potential as an asset in community service activities. Apart from that, this activity is able to support pregnant women in the final trimester who think critically in overcoming the problems that occur to them. Conclusions from educational activities on post-partum perineal wound care management include increasing knowledge and attitudes of third trimester pregnant women regarding post-partum perineal wound care management.
