Abstract

The need for the use of skincare is currently increasing and is widely used among society, one of which is by teenage students. This is one of the reasons why many skincare products on the market contain unsafe ingredients and have not been certified by BPOM or tested halal. The service program carried out at the Adnan Al-Charish Islamic Boarding School aims to improve the students’ skills and understanding in detecting safe and halal skincare by checking it independently. This activity involves teenage students selected through initial observation. The training begins with a presentation of material regarding understanding skincare, the characteristics of risky skincare products, the urgency of BPOM and halal certification, as well as direct practice in identifying product labels and testing mercury content using a reagent kit. The evaluation results showed significant improvement in practice by participants, with 96% of students falling into the good category. Apart from that, skills in detecting the presence of mercury in skincare are included in the very good category. This program succeeded in increasing students’ awareness of the importance of choosing products that comply with safety and sharia standards. The hope is that students can be more selective in choosing skincare, so that the risk of skin problems due to the use of unsafe products can be minimized.
