Abstract

Kegiatan pengabdian masyarakat dengan judul “Edukasi terkait posisi ergonomis dalam upaya pencegahan kejadian Carpal Tunnel Syndrome (CTS) pada mahasiswa laki-laki semester awal STIKES Suaka Insan Banjarmasin†bertujuan untuk memberikan pemahaman kepada mahasiswa terkait risiko CTS yang dapat terjadi akibat dari posisi ergonomis yang kurang tepat dan berlangsung lama, selama menggunakan perangkat elektronik (HP, leptop, dll) dalam menyelesaikan tugas-tugas perkuliahan. Kegiatan penyuluhan ini juga memberikan edukasi terkait modifikasi posisi ergonomis yang tepat untuk mencegah terjadinya CTS. Mahasiswa memiliki resiko untuk mengalami CTS karena tingginya penggunaan perangkat elektronik  untuk pengerjaan tugas dan bermain game. Ketidaktahuan mahasiswa terkait posisi yang tidak ergonomis saat menggunakan perangkat elektronik menambah resiko mengalami CTS lebih tinggi. Target yang diharapkan dari penyuluhan ini adalah adanya peningkatkan pemahamam serta informasi  pada mahasiswa terkait posisi ergonomis  dan pencegahan CTS. Adapun pelaksanaan penyuluhan dilakukan dengan metode ceramah, diskusi dan demonstrasi. Sebagai evaluasi  hasil capaian kegiatan maka dilakukan prestest (sebelum penyuluhan) dan posttest (setelah penyuluhan). Hasil pretest didapatkan 73% mahasiswa memiliki tingkat pengetahuan kategori kurang sedangkan hasil posttets didapatkan 80% mahasiswa memiliki tingkat pengetahuan kategori baik. Dari hasil penyuluhan tersebut maka dapat disimpulkan bahwa kegiatan penyuluhan telah berhasil nencapai target yang ingin dicapai, dapat dilihat dari antusiasme mahasiswa mengikuti penyuluhan serta telah terjadi peningkatan pemahaman terkait risiko dan pencegahan CTS terkait posisi ergonomis sebelum dan setelah mengikuti kegiatan penyuluhan.

ABSTRACT

 

The community service activity with the title "Education related to ergonomic positions in an effort to prevent the occurrence of Carpal Tunnel Syndrome (CTS) in male students in the first semester of STIKES Suaka Insan Banjarmasin" aims to provide students with an understanding of the risks of CTS that can occur as a result of an inadequate ergonomic position. appropriate and lasts a long time, as long as using electronic devices (HP, laptop, etc.) in completing lecture assignments. This outreach activity also provides education regarding the modification of the correct ergonomic position to prevent CTS. Students are at risk for experiencing CTS because of the high use of electronic devices for doing assignments and playing games. Ignorance of students regarding non-ergonomic positions when using electronic devices increases the risk of experiencing CTS higher. The expected target of this counseling is to increase students' understanding and information regarding ergonomic positions and prevention of CTS. The implementation of counseling is carried out using lecture, discussion and demonstration methods. As an evaluation of the results of the activity, a pretest (before counseling) and posttest (after counseling) was carried out. The results of the pretest showed that 73% of students had a low level of knowledge, while the results of the posttest showed that 80% of students had a good level of knowledge. From the results of the counseling, it can be concluded that the counseling activities have succeeded in achieving the targets to be achieved, it can be seen from the enthusiasm of students participating in the counseling and there has been an increase in understanding related to the risks and prevention of CTS related to ergonomic positions before and after participating in the counseling activities.
